Correspondence and Recycling News:
CT Magazine: April-2014 issue Discusses: Earth Day and recycling in Connecticut Connecticut burns more municipal waste per person than any state (1200 lbs per person) 2006: goal by 2024 is to get 50% waste diverted to recycling or no waste. (Simsbury is currently at 24 percent recycling rate waste stream)

Thought to possibly do another recycling forum brought up

Recycling ordinance change: town will annually approve municipal waste haulers (Paines and Allwaste). They will still take trash to CRAA but Paines and Allwaste can take recyclables to whomever. $10 per ton of recyclables is double the rate from before.

Claudia brings up "pay as you throw" program. Currently in San Francisco and other cities. Members will look into this and get some more information.
