SIMSBURY RECYCLING COMMITTEE
TOWN HALL OFFICES -- ROOM 103
MINUTES FOR THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, AT 6:30 PM
Call to order:
Mary Turner, chair, called the meeting to order at 6:36 PM.
Present: Dave Chase, Lori Fernand, Rosemary Fusco, Carol Miller and Mary Turner. We welcome new member, Alexandra Rice.
Approval of Minutes: June 2014:
Carol Miller made a motion to approve the June Minutes. Lori Fernand seconded the motion. The motion carried.
Correspondence and Recycling News:
Discussion was held regarding making use of textile recycling services in Simsbury. The question is how will this affect charitable donations, if at all. Mary will contact Tom Roy with appropriate questions.
Reports:
Mary reported that the Swap Shoppe is doing well, perhaps a banner year, which is good news.
Banning Styrofoam: Lori indicated that the Girl Scouts seem to have lost interest in the project. Lori's niece may be interested.
Household Circular: Lori has been working diligently and has presented the material for a near final approval. Some changes will be made to the text and e-mailed to all.
New Business:
There was discussion of granting recycling awards, awards to be given to a person, persons or group.
Adjournment:
A motion to adjourn the meeting was made at 7:53PM by Carol Miller and seconded by Dave Chase. The motion was carried.
