 Meeting Minutes

January 10, 2018

Call to Order at 5:45pm.

Cheryl Cook, Selectman and Chair of the Community for Care Committee called the meeting to order at 5:45pm on Wednesday, November 8, 2017.  The meeting was held in the Wagner Room at the Simsbury Public Library.  Also in attendance were Pastor Woody Eddins, Marc Lehman, Richard Holden, Becky Rosenthal, Lt. Fred Sifodaskalakis, Karen Gallagher, Amy Muska, Simsbury High School Health and Wellness Coordinator, Kristen Formanek, Simsbury Social Services Director, and Andrew O’Brien, Principal of Simsbury High School.

Public Audience: Alisha Smith of The Valley Press, Simsbury Life was present and introduced but did not comment at public audience.  Ms. Becky Goss of First Church, Simsbury spoke about the True Colors Program and the intention of the Church to start a P-Flag chapter.  Stuart Younse, a teacher at Simsbury High School said he was happy to participate in the evening program and the Committee thanked him for his attendance.

New Business:

The committee discussed the potential content for upcoming community for Care Programs.  Lt. Sifodaskalakis reported to the Committee that the police department confirmed their willingness to lead a program on Vaping after the March 14th meeting.  Many suggestions were put forward as to the content and other possible participants in this program and the committee formed a consensus around several program ideas.  Publicity for the program was discussed.

Adjournment: Ms. Cook made a motion to Adjourn at 6:25pm.  Mr. O’Brien seconded the motion. All were in favor.

The Committee adjourned to the Program Room for the True Colors Program led by Kamora Herrington.
