I. CALL TO ORDER - Chairman Antonio called the meeting to order at 5:56 P.M.

III. APPLICATIONS
1. Discussion and Possible Action:
a. Application #20-02 of Thomas J. Ryan & Andrew Ryan, Agents;
Simsbury Town Shops, LLC, Owner; for a Site Plan Amendment of
previously approved plan to install fire stairs on the property located at
920 Hopmeadow Street. Zone SCZ.
Thomas Ryan presented Application #20-02, he reviewed the history of the property, explaining that the Fire Marshal has ordered the installation of fire stairs on the Berkshire Hathaway building. Mr. Ryan spoke about the need for and location of the fire stairs as well as possible materials and colors to be used.
The Board asked if there are plans to paint the stairs, Mr. Ryan is agreeable to Board suggestions, but notes that he can not pain pressure treated lumber immediately.
Ms. Beal suggests using AZEK to wrap the columns in order to address the posts in a more decorative way and to run trim work across the top around the door and columns.
Ms. Dragulski suggests that Mr. Ryan check the need for the (2) 2x10 posts/beams on the bottom of the stairs. She also suggests the addition of 45 degree corner braces, which will add a different design component.
At 6:27 P.M., a motion was made by Ms. Beal to approve Application #20-02 with the following recommendations:
1. Stairs and structure should have a consistent finished look, using AZEK or comparable material, uniform, white composite finish.
2. Frame out entryway, featuring the columns, keeping it clean, finish appropriately with flavor of the building.
3. Handrail and Spindles should be white in color, spindles can be white vinyl if it is approved by the Fire Marshal.
4. Roof to match the existing roof material and color.
Ms. Rice seconded the motion and the motion passed unanimously.
IV. REFERRALS
1. Zoning Compliance Review Application of Lisa Hamel, Applicant; Tom Ryan, Owner; for signage for Wine etc. on the property located at 926 Hopmeadow Street (Assessor’s Map H09, Block 227, Lot 002). Zone SCZ
Mr. Glidden presented the Board with this Administrative Zoning Compliance Review Application. Mr. Glidden discussed the exact location.
Mr. Antonio requested clarification about the uniform sign package. Mr. Glidden reviewed the details of Simsbury Center Code uniform sign package. This sign conforms.
At 6:31 P.M., a motion was made by Ms. Beal to give a positive referral to Lisa Hamel’s application for signage. Motion was seconded by Ms. Dragulski, and the motion passed unanimously.
V. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
After review of the minutes from the February 3, 2020 meeting, Mr. Antonio made a motion at 6:33 P.M., to accept the minutes as submitted. Motion was seconded by Ms. Dragulski, and the motion passed unanimously.
VI. ADJOURNMENT
At 6:34 P.M., Ms. Rice made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Motion was seconded by Ms. Beal and the motion passed unanimously.
