Super Load Traveling Through Simsbury
Portion of Route 10 from West Street to Stratton Brook Closed Today from 7 PM to 12 AM
The Connecticut State Police and the Connecticut Department of Transportation have advised the Town of Simsbury that the second of six super load moves is scheduled to arrive in Simsbury on Sunday (March 19, 2017) during the night. On Monday night (March 20, 2017) the super load will move south on Route 10 (Hopmeadow Street) into Avon (This move will start at 8:00 PM). This transport will be monitored and escorted by the Connecticut State Police. On Monday, Hopmeadow Street will be closed between West Street and Stratton Brook Road between the hours of 7:00 PM and 12:00 AM. The road will be closed while the bridge that crosses Hop Brook (just south of West Street) is prepared for the super load. This will require a shoring operation before and after the move. Officers will be posted at the bridge as NO traffic will be allowed to cross over the bridge. The detours for the bridge operation are as follows:
- Route 10 (South): West Street to Bushy Hill Road to Stratton Brook Road back to Route 10.
- Route 10 (North): Stratton brook Road to Bushy Hill Road to West Street back to Route 10.
