PLANNING COMISSION
Special Meeting on August 8, 2023, at 6:00 P.M.
Main Meeting Room – Town Hall
933 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury, CT 06070

I. CALL TO ORDER

Chair Leavitt-Smith called the meeting to order at 6:02 P.M.

II. ROLL CALL

Present: Town Planner, George McGregor; Planning Consultant, Glenn Chalder; Chair, Erin Leavitt-Smith; Secretary, William Rice; Holly Beum, Donald Colantonio, Marcus Furze, and Craig MacCormac.

Absent: Joseph Campolieta and Julie Eaton.

Marcus Furze and Craig MacCormac were appointed as regular members.

All present stood for the Pledge of Allegiance.

III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES

July 11, 2023, Regular Meeting

Commissioner MacCormac stated that he was absent at that meeting.

MOTION: Secretary Rice made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Beum, to approve the Minutes of the July 11, 2023, Regular Meeting as amended. The motion carried unanimously. (6-0-0).

IV. PLAN OF CONSERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT

POCD Draft Review Work Session

Mr. Chalder assisted the Planning Commission with comment analysis from the public audience that spoke at the June 27, 2023 meeting, and the Conservation Commission / Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Agency.

MOTION: Commissioner Beum made a motion, seconded by Secretary Rice, that the Planning Commission schedule a public hearing on the draft of the 2023 Plan of Conservation and Development for Tuesday, October 24th at 7:00 P.M. at the Town of Simsbury Library, 725 Hopmeadow Street. The town planning staff is pursuant to CGS 8-23 to transmit the draft POCD, dated August 1st revised, with changes directed on August 8, 2023, by the Commission to the Board of Selectmen, Town Clerk, and the Capital Region Council of Governments. The draft POCD shall also be posted on the town website. The motion carried unanimously. (7-0-0).

V. ADJOURNMENT

MOTION: Chair Leavitt-Smith adjourned the meeting without objection.

The meeting adjourned at 7:31 P.M.
