MINUTES FROM SPECIAL REGULAR MEETING
CALL TO ORDER
Chairman William Rice opened the Special Meeting of the Planning Commission subcommittee at 5:05 p.m. in the Engineering Conference Meeting Room at the Town Offices. Other members Alan Needham and David Ryan. Also present were James Rabbitt AICP, Director of Planning and Michael Glidden, Assistant Town Planner.
William Rice discussed with the committee that he would like to select 2 Finalist for interviews with the Planning Commission. J. Rabbitt suggested that the Planning Commission may want to extend the invite to the Zoning Commission when interviews are scheduled.
Staff reviewed with the commission the completion time line which is required in order for the Commission to stay compliant with State Statutes. The concern that failure to update the plan in the required 10 year time frame could result in the Town of Simsbury being considered not eligible for discretionary state funding.
The group reviewed and discussed submissions for proposals for revising the Plan of Conservation and Development. Proposals were reviewed from Horsley Witten Group, BFJ Planning and Planimetrics.
A consensus was reached that the Town Planner would contact the selected firms to schedule an interview. W. Rice asked that staff coordinate the date for a special meeting in August for the Planning Commission to interview the candidates. J. Rabbitt acknowledged the request and explained to the group that he would work with Chair of the Planning Commission on scheduling.
The discussion ended at 6:23pm. Meeting was adjourned.
