POLICE COMMISSION 
REGULAR MEETING
FEBRUARY 11, 2013

1. CALL TO ORDER

The Regular Meeting of the Police Commission was called to order at 7:25 P.M. in the Police Department Training Room of the Simsbury Town Offices.  Present were Chairman Brendan Walsh, Commissioner Harvey Goodfriend, Commissioner Carl Eisenmann, Chief Peter Ingvertsen and Captain Nicholas Boulter.  Commissioners Michael Long and Edward Cosgrove were not in attendance.   

2. CORRESPONDENCE

Commissioner Goodfriend read the Summary of Letters received since the last Regular Meeting of the Commission on January 14, 2013. (Addendum 1)

3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Chairman Walsh asked that the approval of the minutes from the January 14, 2013 Regular Meeting be postponed until Commissioners Long and Cosgrove are in attendance, at which time a decision will be made regarding the inclusion of e-mail correspondence.  (Addendum 2)

4. PUBLIC AUDIENCE

There were no members of the public present at the meeting.

5. OLD BUSINESS

Commissioner Goodfriend asked for further clarification regarding CIRMA’s response to the Town’s question regarding recovery of the Town’s overtime expenses.  The Chief indicated that the Town’s Director of Administrative Services, Tom Cooke had asked the Town’s Attorney, Robert Decrescenzo for a more thorough explanation and would present it to the Commission once it is received

The Chief reported the following:

The 2013 Citizen’s Police Academy would begin on February 21, 2013 and is full.

The Police Department and the Town’s response to the recent record snow fall was excellent.  There were no issues and the department’s officers did an outstanding job.

7. EXECUTIVE SESSION

Commissioner Goodfriend made motion to go into Executive Session at 7:36 P.M. Commissioner Eisenmann seconded the motion. All were in favor and the motion passed.

Commissioner Goodfriend made motion to leave Executive Session at 7:45 P.M. Commissioner Eisenmann seconded the motion.  All were in favor and the motion passed.

8. NEW BUSINESS

Chief Ingvertsen reported to the Commission that all three Interceptor II police vehicles purchased in 2012 were now on the road.  Additionally, three new Interceptors’ have been ordered for delivery in 2013.  The Chief noted that due to the new vehicle design, outfitting the vehicles took longer than expected.  He also noted that the department has been very happy with the Interceptor II.  

9. AJOURNMENT

Commissioner Goodfriend made motion to adjourn at 7:49 P.M. Commissioner Eisenmann seconded the motion.  All were in favor and the motion passed.
