REGULAR MEETING
JUNE 8, 2015
1. CALL TO ORDER
The Regular Meeting of the Police Commission was called to order at 7:00 P.M. in the Police Department Training Room of the Simsbury Town Offices. Present were Chairman Michael Long, Commissioner Carl Eisenmann, Commissioner Edward Cosgrove, Commissioner Brendan Walsh, Commissioner James Fleming, Chief Peter Ingvertsen, Captain Nicholas Boulter and Lt. Fred Sifodaskalakis.

Commissioner Fleming read the Summary of Letters received since the last Regular Meeting of the Commission on May 11, 2015. (Addendum 1)
4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Commissioner Cosgrove made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Walsh and passed unanimously to approve the minutes of the May 11, 2015 Regular Meeting. (Addendum 2)
5. PUBLIC AUDIENCE
none
6. OLD BUSINESS
The Chief reported that Lt. Sifodaskalakis is scheduled to be deposed in the matter of Town of Simsbury v. Corinne Nevers on June 11th.
7. REPORTS
Chairman’s Report
Chairman Long asked that all in attendance observe a moment of silence is remembrance of recently deceased retired Police Chief, Gordon Gyngell.
Chief’s Report
Chief Ingvertsen reported the following:
The Chief notified the Commissioners that a meeting regarding the architectural design and firm selection for the proposed new Sr. Center would be held in the Main Meeting room of the Town Hall, on June 10th.
Both the annual Bike to School Day and the Memorial Day Parade went very well.

New officer, Kevin Marano progressed rapidly through his field training and has been released from FTO. He is now working independently.
Officer Justin Johnson continues to perform well in the Police Academy.
The Click-It or Ticket campaign ran from May 18 through the 31st.
SRO Timothy May with assistance from an outside vendor, put together a distracted driving awareness program at the High School. The program included an interactive impaired driving simulator, an interactive distracted driving computer software program and a display vehicle which was heavily damaged as a result of distracted or impaired driving. The program was very well received by the students and administration.
On May 14th Chief Ingvertsen and Captain Boulter did a presentation at P.O.S.T. which recommended that Darien Police Department be awarded Tier II reaccreditation.
Chief Ingvertsen and Captain Boulter met with Bert Wolfe, the head of Chubb Insurance’s Corporate Security for a tour of Chubb’s Simsbury site.
The Simsbury Chamber of Commerce’s annual luncheon was held on May 28th and was attended by Chief Ingvertsen, Captain Boulter and Lt. Sifodaskalakis.
A third Speed Monitoring Display Trailer has been purchased.
The Chief introduced Officer Kevin Marano to the members of the Commission. Officer Marano then provided an educational presentation to the Commission on the new required Model Uniform Crash Criteria (MUCC) form(s) which replaces the previous PR1 form. Officer Marano’s knowledge on the subject was expansive and the presentation was very well received.
The Department submitted a Hazardous Roads grant application to receive $16,700. The grant monies will cover the cost of two (2) new radar units and the labor/overtime costs for targeted speed enforcement.

No issues were noted.
8. NEW BUSINESS
Based on the upcoming summer season (July and August), the Commission discussed and agreed that the Commission’s July and August Regular meetings should be cancelled and if necessary a special meeting could be called.

9. AJOURNMENT
Commissioner Cosgrove made motion to adjourn at 7:55 P.M. Commissioner Fleming seconded the motion. All were in favor and the motion passed.
