Aquarion Leak Detection and Repairs

Currently, Aquarion is in the area conducting leak detection surveys in Simsbury neighborhoods. Residents may recognize they’re in the area by the presence of blue paint on the road, marking the water lines, as well as some minor digging in the right-of-way.  Aquarion Water Company, as well as all other public water utilities, are required by State law to conduct leak surveys and fix known leaks. Aquarion utilizes a combination of contracted-out and in-house technicians to perform these leak detection surveys.

The good news is that any leaks detected on the water mains or in the service lines between the water main and the curb valve will be the responsibility of Aquarion. They will make these repairs without charge to the resident. In most cases, Aquarion will also install an underground meter pit during the repair work.  Underground meter pits are their new standard for installation to eliminate the need to have a water meter located in your basement.

Any leaks detected between the curb valve and the home or building serviced will be the responsibility of the property owner.  Aquarion assures us that if there are leaks detected on the customer side of service, they will attempt to contact the customer to explain it in person. If they are not able to reach the customer, they will leave a door tag requesting that customer contact them to discuss it further. The customer will then have 30 days to conduct all repairs to stop the leak.
