AGE FRIENDLY COMMUNITY

Updates from July, August, and September meetings: Ms. Beatty noted that a subcommittee has been formed with these commission members:  Jan Beatty, chair, Ed LaMontagne, clerk, Cheryl Cook, Mike Jennings, Diana Yeisley, and Libby Easton-May as non-voting member. Kate Robbins volunteered to join the subcommittee meetings 1st Thursday of the month at 2:30 in the Old Court Room. The stakeholder list has been expanded and members will reach out to them for their input this month. A “Senior Voices” group will be set up with Ms. Marschall’s help to augment the survey results obtained last September. A timeline was established, with the hope of setting up focus groups in early 2024 as the group works toward creating an action plan to submit to AARP.

July Picnic wrap-up and feedback - Ms. Yeisley read some comments from Ms. Haldeman. She noted that about 80-90 people attended. She’d like to get more funding for the picnic.

Fashion Show – Ms. Yeisley reported that Terry Henault and Deb Glass, new co-chairs, met with Ms. Marschall to discuss.  There are 77 people signed up for the lunch and show at 1 pm on October 19. Ms. Fleet, Ms. Robbins, and Ms. Abbuhl agreed to join as volunteers. Ms. Yeisly noted that additional funding is desired; Ms. Robbins suggested listing funders at the events.
