UPDATE FROM THE CHAIR:

As part of our project for Public Engagement on Inclusive Housing in Simsbury, we have our first stakeholder meeting tonight with the Simsbury Library Board of Trustees. The purpose is to provide an overview of the project and seek their input on inclusive housing, especially related to the key role they play with a diverse cross-section of Simsbury residents. We are using the input from these stakeholder meetings to shape a process that will engage as many diverse perspectives as possible in creating a shared vision and plan for inclusive housing in Simsbury.

 

ACTION ITEMS:

  1. Volunteer to be the next Housing subcommittee workgroup meeting clerk – Cheryl volunteered

 

OLD BUSINESS: None

 

NEW BUSINESS:

  1. Discuss Housing sub-committee workgroup grant proposed plan and program design.

We discussed the various ways we are soliciting input/data to inform the public engagement process: survey, stakeholder meeting questions and event feedback form. With the stakeholder meetings, we will need to customize what questions we ask depending on the participants, their role(s), whether it’s a group or 1:1 meeting, etc. The intention is to invite diverse and candid input into the process. It’s recommended that we have a pre-brief and debrief before and after each stakeholder meeting so that we can share learning and improve the process.

 

  1. Discuss first educational series program and review registration and publicity for event.

All should continue to promote the Housing Basics event on May 12, which is the first in a series of education events on housing.

 

  1. Review list of stakeholder letter recipients.

We discussed additional potential stakeholders to engage, including from various neighborhoods, apartment complexes, developments, etc. All of us should continue to add to the shared Google sheet the names of the stakeholders we have reached out to and the meetings we have scheduled.
