SIMSBURY TOURISM COMMITTEE

Holiday Pot Luck Meeting

Regular Meeting, Monday, December 16, 2013 7:00pm
In attendance were: Dominique Avery, Joyce Howard, Liz Banco, Charmaine Seavey, Diane Phillips, Kathy Oakes, Angela Campetti, Paulette Clark, Steve Mitchell, Barbara O’Connor
Meeting portion of gathering was called to order at 8pm.
Minutes of the November 18, 2013 meeting were approved.
Old Business
Membership Issues: The group discussed the future composition and direction of the committee and the current process for appointing new members by the party nominating committees. Every two years the Board of Selectmen reviews ad hoc committees like the Tourism Committee. The current members will assemble a presentation for the BOS showing how the committee has been fulfilling its mission statement, including highlights of activities. This will be presented at a BOS meeting sometime in January.
Review of 2014 Meeting Date and Places: The list for the first half of the year was reviewed.
Simsbury Celebrates Recap: There was not an official recap because the Simsbury Celebrates Committee has not met to review this year’s event. There was a general discussion of how people felt it went based on their observations.
The Town Website changes were reviewed.
Facebook posts are continuing. Members are urged to have people “friend” the page.
New Business
A. Charmaine will be the liaison to the Triathlon Committee
B.Members will participate in a show on SCTV.Date not yet set.
Other Business
Directions for retrieving messages from phone line were distributed to those who needed them.
The group wished Liz success in her new home, and thanked her for all her efforts for the committee and the Town in general over the past years.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:30pm
