Recycling Committee

The Simsbury Recycling Committee is a temporary committee established to facilitate the operation of the Town’s Swap Shoppe at the Transfer Station. The Committee is responsible for: recruiting, training and scheduling volunteers to staff the Swap Shoppe; sorting, cleaning, and organizing donated items; maintaining the Swap Shoppe in good condition; tracking and reporting on usage of the Swap Shoppe. The goal of the Swap Shoppe is to encourage reuse of items and reduce the amount of waste generated.

The Swap Shoppe is open on Saturdays that the landfill is open from 9AM to 2PM, weather-permitting.

Meetings shall be held as often as necessary to carry out the purpose and meet established goals, but generally will be at least twice per year in April and October.

Members of the Committee are appointed by the Board of Selectmen following a recommendation from the Personnel Sub-Committee; members shall have two- (2-) year terms.
The Recycling Committee shall consist of four (4) members.
